Agile Solar Holdings, the associate company of San Bruno, California-based utility scale power project developer, Agile Energy, has handed over the Silverleaf photovoltaic solar energy project to Tenaska Solar Ventures.
The Silverleaf solar project which is proposed to generate 160 megawatt (MW) of solar power is under development in Imperial Valley in California. The location of the facility will be on agricultural land spread across 1,100 ac to the west of El Centro and to the east of the 150 MW solar power facility known as the Tenaska Imperial Solar Energy Center West. The construction of the project, which is to be named as the Tenaska Silverleaf Solar Energy Center, is scheduled to commence in 2014 and the commencement of commercial operation is slated to begin by 2015. The project is expected to create 250 direct jobs during the construction phase and between two and six full-time jobs on the commencement of operations.
The transaction between Tenaska and Agile Energy was completed on August 1. As part of the agreement, Agile Energy will provide development support to Tenaska by way of completion of project permitting. The other development related activities will be handled by Tenaska.
