WCA Waste Corporation (“WCA”), a vertically-integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, has been designated as an official Sustainability Partner for the University of Florida system.
WCA was recently awarded a five-year contract to partner with the University of Florida in its goal to be a “Zero Waste organization by 2015.“ WCA will be providing environmental solutions in the areas of recycling, organics, purchasing alternatives and other sustainable solutions for the university system. This is the first time the university has been able to bring all three stakeholders; the University of Florida, the University of Florida Health Hospitals and Clinics, and the University Athletic Association together to partner with one sustainable solution provider.
“WCA is excited to partner with the state’s premier center of learning. We are proud to serve the University of Florida System to meet its sustainability goals and promote a culture of environmental stewardship,” said Bob Shires, regional vice president for WCA.
WCA is closely aligned with the overall mission of the University of Florida’s Office of Sustainability, and will work closely with the University and its campus sustainability programs to ensure that Zero Waste management practices are held to the highest environmental standard.
