GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA announced today that it will supply renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for the 2014 Globalcon Conference & Expo April 9-10 at the Atlantic City New Jersey Convention Center.
This is the fifth consecutive year the retail electricity supplier will provide the RECs in support of the association's commitment to fostering action for sustainable development. The quantity of certificates, which will be Green-e® Energy Certified, is targeted to match the electricity that will be consumed during the expo.
A Green-e® Certified REC represents the environmental attributes of electricity generated from wind, solar or other renewable generation facilities that meet certain vintage and production standards. Organizations that use RECs to offset their indirect greenhouse gas emissions support the operation and development of domestic sources of renewable energy.
J.D. Burrows, Vice President of Marketing for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, said supplying the RECs reflects the company's commitment to help its customers incorporate eco-friendly practices into the customer's business models.
"Our ongoing relationship with AEE and Globalcon is a primary example of our dedication to building sustainable energy strategies that balance fiscal and operational objectives with environmental priorities," he explained. "We're honored to once again support AEE in this regard as they continue to promote clean energy consumption."
"Environmental responsibility and conservation are critical priorities for AEE and Globalcon. In fact, many of the programs we offer reinforce this topic and support green energy practices," said AEE Executive Albert Thumann. "We thank GDF SUEZ Energy Resources for continuously backing our efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting this important message of sustainability among key energy decision makers."
Globalcon is aimed at business, industry and government leaders who are seeking energy solutions that assure a safe, secure power supply and effective management of costs. Attendees can visit the GDF SUEZ Energy Resources booth, No. 122, to see how the company can assist them with strategies for mitigating commodity market risks, managing demand and consumption, and maximizing the opportunities in a competitive energy marketplace.
A presentation titled, "Effective Energy Management: Generating Revenues through Electricity Contracts in Deregulated Markets" will also be led by Burrows as part of the conference on April 9 at 2:30 p.m. The session will cover innovative load management strategies that reduce costs and consumption while allowing customers the ability to maintain supply flexibility and potentially earn revenues.
