The Ross Solar Group has completed another record setting rooftop solar installation in New York City — the largest single SunPower rooftop solar installation in the borough of Queens to date. The 327 kilowatt system was designed and constructed for Ovation In Store, Inc. in Maspeth, NY.
Comprised of 1,000 high-efficiency SunPower solar panels, the system is expected to generate in excess of 392,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy per year, and cover 100% of Ovation In Store's electricity needs for their warehouse and manufacturing facility. According to estimates provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the system will offset more than 260 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, the equivalent of removing almost 1,500 cars from New York's roads over the next 30 years.
Ovation In Store creates unique in-store retail solutions for some of the world's largest brands including Clinique, L'Oreal, Donna Karan, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
"This solar project is a great fit for us as a company because it combines cutting edge technology with a forward thinking philosophy," said Ovation In Store President Ben Weshler. "Ross Solar Group's commitment to quality, communication, and customer service made our choice easy when selecting the right partner for this high profile green building project."
The solar system installation was made possible through awards that Ross Solar received from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) through Governor Cuomo's NY-Sun initiative.
"We are thrilled to partner with a company like Ovation In Store, implementing leading technology that will deliver operational savings for the company and help secure a reliable renewable energy future for New York," said Robert Kline, director of commercial sales for Ross Solar.
