“Our customers have long been asking us to put our engineering excellence to work in connection with a single-axis tracker product, as these products continue to be the solution of choice for many large scale ground mounted projects, particularly in the western U.S.,” explains SunLink CEO Christopher Tilley. “We spent a lot of time looking at the tracking landscape, including designing our own tracker, and found the G10 Quantum tracker provides an optimum solution for the solar industry. ViaSol Energy Solutions has demonstrated a high level of engineering sophistication and an innovative product design with this product, and they have the installation track record to confirm it translates into real-world project success.”

Using drive components that have been proven over decades in the heavy equipment industry, each power unit drives up to 1 MW of solar modules. Competitive tracker systems require two to four times as many power systems per MW – which means SunLink’s ViaSol tracker boasts both reduced installation labor and the lowest equipment cost of any proven tracking system on the market today. In addition, installation time is cut by terrain following capability that is enhanced by the widest misalignment tolerances in the industry.

In acquiring the proven technology, SunLink immediately earns a leadership position in the tracker space, able to point to proven utility scale installations that have been operating successfully since 2008.

“We designed the tracker to optimize the installation process, maximizing the tolerances to allow for rough terrain and workmanship, while requiring fewer man hours per MW,” says ViaSol Energy Solutions CEO Erick Schlichtmann. “We proved the advantage of that approach through more than six years of development and commercial applications in the US. Now, we’re excited to pass the torch to SunLink so that they can bring to bear their distribution, supply chain, and customer service resources to take our technology to the next level, making it the top choice for utility-scale PV systems.”
