Town of Woodstock Selects OnForce Solar to Execute 650kW Solar Project

OnForce Solar, a leading provider of solar energy systems, announced that the Town of Woodstock, NY has awarded the firm a 650 kW solar project. The planned solar array will be built on 3 acres near the wastewater treatment plant located on state Route 212.

OnForce Solar will own the project in its entirety and anticipates investing approximately $2M to install, operate, and maintain the solar installation pursuant to a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). There will be absolutely no expense to Woodstock other than the cost of purchasing electricity, which will be at a reduced rate from what they are currently paying to their utility.

When complete, the 650 kW solar system is expected to generate approximately 730,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy per year and is expected to save the town hundreds of thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the system. The solar output will cover approximately 100% of the town’s electricity consumption and the system will offset 503 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Charles Feit, CEO of OnForce Solar, commented, “We are grateful the Town of Woodstock selected OnForce Solar to execute this important project. This was a very competitive RFP process and due to our strong engineering capabilities, we prevailed. Woodstock has such a colorful history, we are so proud to be a part of it as Woodstock becomes a 100% solar powered town. This is an exciting time for all.”

The solar system installation was made possible, in part, through an award that the Town of Woodstock will receive from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) through Governor Cuomo's NY-Sun initiative.

Construction of the solar array is expected to begin in the 2nd quarter of this year.
