IGS Solar, LLC, a turn-key commercial and residential solar provider, has teamed up with New Bedford, MA-based firm Beaumont Solar Co., a full-service solar energy system installer, to build a 1.3MW ground-mounted solar array that will provide renewable energy to the Bourne community.
“We are delighted to be working with IGS and the local community to make this groundbreaking project a reality,” said Phil Cavallo, president & CEO of Beaumont Solar Co. “A hallmark of making this initiative come to life for the rate payers in this community has been the ability to work cooperatively with local town, utility, and state agencies.”
Patrick Smith, vice president of IGS Solar, agreed, “Through successful collaboration and careful planning, we’re pleased to be able to bring renewable energy to the community.”
The community solar farm is currently being constructed at 53 MacArthur Blvd in Bourne. It will provide participating local businesses and residents with the opportunity to save on their electric bills and have access to clean, renewable energy. Additionally as part of the project, IGS and the primary customer in the program, the Bourne Recreation Authority, have signed a long-term agreement to provide clean energy to the John Gallo Ice Arena.
“I know that I speak on behalf of the members of the Bourne Recreation Authority in stating how thrilled we are in signing this agreement with IGS Solar to significantly reduce our energy costs at the John Gallo Ice Arena,” said Gregory A. Folino, chairman of the board for the Bourne Recreation Authority. “I would like to sincerely thank our professional staff, our consultant Sia Karplus of Science Wares Inc., and the wonderful people of Beaumont Solar and Fiddler's Green for all of their hard work during the past three years to bring this concept to fruition.”
