NAUSICAA Announces Diary of Events and Press Trip Invitations

The ocean is essential for our life on Earth. It covers three-quarters of our planet, regulating the climate, playing a part in the life cycle of water and influencing the quality of the air we breathe. Preserving the world's oceans is therefore a major ecological issue.

In December 2015, France will be hosting the 21st climate conference, Paris Climat 2015. NAUSICAA, and all the partners in the 2015 Ocean & Climate Platform, have been working throughout the year to ensure that the Ocean is central to the discussions at COP21.

NAUSICAA is focusing on the theme of Ocean & Climate and it will be playing its part to the full by increasing awareness of the importance of oceans in controlling climate.

Awareness is the first stage in the creation of a desirable future. In 2015, it has taken the form of a new, temporary exhibition called, "Ocean & Climate: getting hot in here!", as well as events such as Shark Week.

The ocean is also an essential source of economic wealth through fishing, tourism, transport, etc. The 28 European partners in the "Sea For Society" project are illustrating this point through a campaign aimed at public involvement which is being relayed by NAUSICAA. The results of the project will enrich the concept of a Blue Society and lead to a number of concrete proposals for the European Commission's DG Research.

2015 is also marked by the 5th anniversary of Mr.Goodfish.
