Dalhousie University Launches New Program and College for the Environment, Sustainability and Society

This week Dalhousie University will officially launch a new program that pioneer a new way of teaching for a new generation of leaders.

On Wednesday, January 21st, the university will unveil details of the new ESS (Environment, Sustainability and Society) program. The launch will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the D-drive room of the Goldberg Computer Science Building on Dalhousie’s main campus.

This program will be the first of its kind in Canada as it offers a chance for students to combine study in ESS with almost any other undergraduate program resulting in a double major. This is the largest wholesale change to the way Dalhousie educates its students in recent memory.

The program will educate a new generation of leaders who will take this green-based knowledge into any field they end up working in. No matter what career they end up pursuing, they will also bring a new kind of eco-conscious thinking that will leave the earth in better shape.
