Zero Motorcycles, the leading electric motorcycle manufacturer, today announced the company's upcoming line of street legal electric motorcycles will be eligible for the just passed 10 percent Federal tax credit for plug-in vehicles. This announcement comes just prior to Zero Motorcycles' official launch of its all-new Zero S Supermoto Street Bike.
Zero Motorcycles took the lead in working with Plug-In America and a coalition of other electric motorcycle companies to ensure the plug-in tax credit would be expanded to include all plug-in motorcycles. Standing together with companies coast to coast, the coalition rallied Congress to take action and expand green jobs in this exciting new industry. Zero customers and fans weighed in as well, sending thousands of letters to Congress in support of the expanded plug-in tax credits.
"Tax credits for electric motorcycles are not only an effective way to create jobs, but they are also an investment in green technology. We think that America can and should lead the world in green technology," said Neal Saiki, inventor and founder of Zero Motorcycles. "The fledgling electric motorcycle industry is rapidly responding to our country's need for affordable and environmentally responsible transportation. We're pretty excited to combine our passion for motorcycles with something that benefits everyone."
The stimulus legislation also provides for almost two billion dollars in advanced battery manufacturing funding. This will help revolutionize the American battery industry and assist Zero's efforts to build better and more powerful lithium-ion power packs.
Zero Motorcycles is the next step in motorcycle evolution and represents the ultimate electric motorcycle technology. Unencumbered by conventional thinking about how we design, manufacture, and sell high performance electric motorcycles, we're on a mission to turn heads and revolutionize our industry by combining the best aspects of a traditional motorcycle, with today's most advanced technology. The result is an electric motorcycle line that's insanely fast, and environmentally friendly.
