Despite the current global economic environment, Anaheim University has reported a positive surge in student enrollments in its online Sustainable Management programs. According to Anaheim University representative Darrell Nelson, "Our student numbers have nearly doubled over the last 3 months and our online classes are filling up with students sincerely interested in making a difference and becoming responsible for the environmental, social and financial bottom line. With governments around the globe also starting to focus on the environment, it is exciting to see our sustainable management programs becoming the courses of choice for students the world over, who can then help to implement positive change at their places of work."
Through such 6-week intensive online courses as "Triple Bottom Line Accountability," "Green Marketing" and "Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics," Anaheim's students learn about the "3 P's" (People, Planet and Profit) while earning a Certificate, Diploma or MBA in Sustainable Management (Online Green MBA).
When asked about the program, Donald Nordeng, President of the pioneering organic certification company Ecocert's Japanese subsidiary, said, "Triple Bottom Line Accountability is one of the subjects I am excited about getting to grips with. This really fits with the business and whole corporate raison d'etre, of how to increase our profit whilst at the same time adding value to the environment and standards of living within the communities we serve. The fact that Anaheim University is an online University also had added incentive for me to study. Without the bricks and mortar and need for travel, we are already cutting down on thousands of tons of carbon."
Nelson added, "AU is putting people and planet before profit and we hope that universities around the world will soon join us in becoming not only sustainable but socially responsible institutions. To help assist students during these challenging economic times, we have implemented the Tuition Relief Program until June 30th. This covers 50% of the tuition for any degree-seeking student as well as any Sustainable Management Diploma or Certificate student. We have also pledged to do our part in protecting the environment by committing to becoming 100% paperless by 2010 and signing the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment last February.
