First Wind to Host Celebrations for Stetson Wind Expansion Project

First Wind will host a celebration to mark the commencement of the expansion of its Stetson Wind project. The plant is earmarked for the addition of 25.5 MW generating capacity.

The event, to be held near Danforth, in Maine, will be attended by the members of the local community state, local political officials, and environmental agencies, who will discuss the advantages that the expansion will bring forth for the environment as well as the economy.

The Stetson Wind expansion involves the installation and commissioning of 17 wind turbines of 1.5 MW each, manufactured by GE.  Combined with the original Stetson Wind project, the proposed expansion will result in an 82.5 MW facility capable of producing renewable energy.

Senator Kevin Raye of R-Perry, Washington County Commissioners, Chris Gardner, John Kerry, the director of Maine Office of Energy Independence & Security and the President of Reed & Reed, Jack Parker will be among the speakers at the event, along with First Wind CEO Paul Gaynor.

The event is scheduled for 23 November 2009 at 1 pm at the Owl Mountain Road.
