The “Rebuilding America” campaign, which has recently been endorsed by sustainable air quality products provider Ingersoll Rand, urges the devising of a countrywide strategy to modify business facilities and homes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy and create job opportunities.
This campaign brings together businesses, non-governmental organizations, labor groups, is an initiative jointly launched by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Energy Future Coalition. At the time when Ingersoll Rand endorsed this campaign, the company announced that the decision was in line with its objective of practicing sustainable activities across its worldwide operations.
The Rebuilding America Campaign calls for retrofitting 50 million residential and small commercial buildings by 2020. The campaign will create thousands of jobs during the next ten years. The campaign requires $500 billion as private and public investment. It will create directly and indirectly about 625,000 in the next ten years. About $32 billion-$62 billion of annual energy cost savings are expected from this campaign for consumers and the total savings estimated through 2020 is $685 billion.
The Rebuilding America Campaign seeks to encourage investments towards improving energy efficiency from public and private enterprises. At the same time, the campaign will provide financial help, link consumers to certified contractors and contribute towards elevating the standards and achieving measurable energy savings in the retrofit segment.
The senior vice president of Ingersoll Rand, John Conover, expressed the company’s willingness to support an effort that will help to improve the environment, national economy, and create jobs. He mentioned that the Rebuilding America campaign will help build energy-efficient buildings and provide benefits for residents, occupants and building owners for a long term.
So far, the Rebuilding America campaign has been acknowledged by over 50 companies operating in the field of labor and energy advocacy, finance, and manufacturing.
