Multi-year Framework Agreement Signed between Solyndra and Sun System

Sun System has signed a multi-year framework agreement worth $105 million with Solyndra, which manufactures proprietary photovoltaic systems for rooftops of commercial buildings. Sun System is a solar integrator located in Milan, Italy. Solyndra has branches in Milpitas and Fremont, where the production of solar panels will be carried out.

The photovoltaic systems manufactured by Solyndra are cylindrical and thin, and their design enables them to generate an increasing amount of electricity every year. These photovoltaic systems used in southern Europe are installed on commercial rooftops, and their installation costs are much lower in comparison with the costs of the standard flat panel photovoltaic technologies.

Dr. Chris Gronet, Founder and CEO of Solyndra, remarked that this partnership between Solyndra and Sun System will increase the usage of Solyndra’s photovoltaic systems on commercial rooftops. Gronet stated that both large and medium-scale photovoltaic systems are provided by Sun System, which is used in other countries also.

Dr. Domenico Ruggeri, Sun System’s Technical Director, remarked that clean energy will be used in the future due to the swift and easy mounting technology and cylindrical design of Solyndra’s photovoltaic systems.

Dr. Davide Scarantino, CEO of Sun System, highlighted the advantages available in Solyndra’s photovoltaic systems by referring to its non-penetrating wind performance, installation cost, energy production for a single roof and rooftop landing features.
