Government of Ontario Seeks for Efficient Wood Supply Proposals

Ontario, Canada is seeking for efficient and productive means of utilizing wood, namely, branches and logs, from Crown forests for various commercial and manufacturing purposes. These productive and efficient means of wood usage will initiate the creation of new investments and new jobs in the forest industry.

Proposals requesting the usage of 11 million cubic meters of wood are currently accepted. Both old and new companies that are willing to use Crown wood supply and make investments in Ontario are eligible to take up these innovative measures. These proposals will be examined based on a number of issues that include cooperative relationships between industries and Aboriginal communities, and effective fostering.

The proposals should be submitted by 4 March, 2010. The wood supply process is regarded as the second stage of Ontario’s Crown Wood Supply competition. Almost one third of the supply of wood in the Forest Management Plans is included in this process. Crown lands include 90 percent of forest lands that are locally owned and almost 60 percent of Ontario.  Further details on the Provincial Wood Supply Competitive Process can be obtained from their website.
