Amtech Receives Large Solar Orders from Existing and New Customers

Tempress Systems, a solar subsidiary unit of Amtech Systems, has received an estimated amount of $10 million as part of its solar orders for its diffusion processing systems. Amtech Systems is a worldwide supplier of automation and production systems for the manufacturers of silicon wafers, semiconductors and solar cells.

The solar orders also include orders for a single R&D system from two new customers and follow-on orders from two existing customers. These solar orders are scheduled for delivery in the first half of the year 2010. Tempress Systems has also received a larger order for its solar diffusion systems, but the company due to confidential restrictions has refused to provide details with reference to the customer’s name and size of the order. This large order is separate from the other solar orders.

J.S. Whang, Chief Executive Officer and President of Amtech, remarked that the company is delighted to receive follow-on orders from its old and new customers. These follow-on orders according to Whang will enhance the company’s involvement in various development and research activities. Details regarding the new larger order will be revealed at the appropriate time. Amtech will continue to improve its quotation activity and enhance its confidence in administering the solar growth strategy.
