Middleton Geothermal Services has completed various projects including the Northside Lofts project. For the project, the company provided geothermal conductivity testing. The company also offered financing services for system well field and geothermal well field. The Northside Lofts project was completed by the company in the year 2006. The Northside Lofts project is located in the downtown of Akron, Ohio. The exact location of the project is along the Erie Canal and Towpath trail.
The building is a high rise luxury condominium type. For the project, the company had installed a vertical type of ground source loop, to capture the heat from the earth. Middleton Geothermal Services drilled 40 boreholes to conduct the thermal conductivity testing for the Northside Lofts project. Each borehole was drilled to a depth of 500 feet. Due to a suitable location, the Northside Lofts project has benefits of geothermal cooling and heating.
The geothermal well field of the project is located under the parking lot of the condominiums. The building comprises the heating and cooling unit. Hence, the rooftop is left free to provide rooftop terrace. The company provided finance for the project, through its sister firm, Welfin. The life expectancy of the well field is more than 50 years. So the initial investment can be regained many timer over.
