"Windview" Proprietary Wind Data and Market Pricing Analysis Program Completed

Crownbutte Wind Power has completed version 1.0 of its “Windview" proprietary wind data and market pricing analysis program.

Hourly metrological data from Crownbutte's 10 meteorological towers that are located in Montana and North Dakota is combined with hourly pricing data from the Midwest ISO LMP pricing nodes by the program. The data, recorded since 2005, is analyzed by program to establish the potential profitability of each project that is developed by Crownbutte Wind Power. The program also helps the company to select the optimum model of turbines and components for each wind energy project to be financially viable through its simulation of various models of wind turbines and different energy storage mechanisms capability.

Crownbutte Wind Power, a North Dakota based company, is a developer of merchant wind power parks. It was established in the year 1999, and has over 640 MW of wind projects in its current pipeline that are in different stages of development across Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Each of these projects has been sized in such a way that the transmission lines will require only minimum upgrades enabling the company to brings these projects online sooner than large projects that require new transmission lines.
