Rain or Shine provides different kinds of grid-tied solar electric power system including the 5.5kW family size hybrid system. The solar power system includes 12 solar modules, manufactured by Sanyo. Each solar module has a rated power of 190 watts. This solar electric system is equipped with eight Surrette S530 batteries that feature 400 ampere hours. The charge controller of the solar PV system is an Outback M60 model.
The 5.5kW grid-tied solar electric system is installed in a home that is connected to the utility grid. When the power generated by the solar power system is not enough, electricity is obtained from the utility. When there is more solar generated power that exceeds the requirement, the additional power is fed into the grid. The solar generated power sent to the grid is noted by the net metering device. For every month, the residents get credit based on the electricity sold to the utility and the electricity bill is reduced accordingly.
The 5.5kW family size hybrid solar power system is equipped with an Outback autotransformer, one battery temperature sensor, Outback 7248 7kW half stack power center, a three-circuit low voltage combiner box and an Outback mate. Other components of this gird-tied hybrid solar power system include a 30 ampere wind breaker, six 10 ampere PV breakers, six 25 feet MC cables, three sets of ground lugs, one custom fixed ground mounted solar, two ground rods, and 12 wire clips. The family size solar power system, offered by Rain or Shine, also includes a Whisper 500 wind turbine with 3.2kW capacity.
