DRI Energy Celebrates Completion of Largest Solar Power System in Anaheim, California

DRI Energy announced that it has completed the largest solar power system in the Anaheim city. The 500 kW solar power system was designed and installed by the company for SA Recycling, a company that is engaged in metal recycling and processing. To mark the completion of the system, SA Recycling held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its headquarters. Mayor of Anaheim, Curt Pringle, presented the key-note speech at the ceremony.

For the solar system installation, which was completed in record time, the company employed 20 local crew members. To ensure safety, SA Recycling chose to install DRI’s WhirlieBird personal fall arrest system. Annually, the solar system is anticipated to generate over 715,000 kWh, which is equivalent to the electricity needed for powering up 120 households for a year. The produced energy is expected to reduce carbon-dioxide emission every year by more than 1 million pounds.

Terry Adams, SA Recycling’s Executive Vice President and Steve Kelley, DRI’s Executive Vice President expressed their pleasure over working with each other.

The 500 kW solar project was supported by CSI’s (California Solar Initiative) Anaheim Solar Advantage program. The project will receive about $1.2 million performance incentive from Anaheim utility, based on its actual production. The incentive would be paid to the project over the initial five years of production.
