Finelite announced that the new corporate center of National Grid has achieved double Platinum LEED certification. The company said the center, which is situated in Waltham, Massachusetts, is the second largest utility to earn this certification in the United States. One of the factors that earned the center Platinum certification includes the lighting from Finelite. The center earned certification also for its commercial interiors, and shell and core construction.
Finelite’s CEO, Terry Clark would offer a presentation at the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair on the company’s involvement in the green building project of National Grid. Clark would discuss how close partnership brought office lighting below 0.65 watts for every square foot. Clark would be joined by an associate of Atelier Ten, Chad Groshart in the discussion.
The lighting for the project was designed by Atelier Ten and the lighting systems were provided by Finelite. The company supplied 1,800 Personal Lighting Systems that are 6-watt desk lamps. These lamps offered low ambient lighting for the staff. The lighting for open office space provided by Finelite includes 7,600 1-lamp T8 Series 12 Luminaires. This kind of lighting reduces the peak demand and energy use, without compromising on the user satisfaction, as per an independent research.
Terry Clark said National Grid showed that great amount of energy savings can be obtained by forming the right team and choosing a unique approach for office lighting. National Grid also demonstrates how office lighting can enhance the environment of staffs for working, Clark added.
