Constellation Energy announced a solar capital commitment of $90 million to support the commercial photovoltaic power systems development. To maximize the value of incentives provided by the government, the $90-million solar capital will be available for solar installations constructed at customers’ location that are 500 kW or above which commence construction earlier than mid-year 2010.
Constellation Energy, through this capital commitment will install solar systems at customers’ locations. Through the solar installations, which is owned by Constellation Energy, the company will supply generated on-site power to the customer. This innovative solution allows the customers to meet their sustainability goals without incurring any capital costs. Already capital commitment worth about $18 million has been committed to solar projects in New Jersey and Maryland.
Constellation Energy’s goal is to expand the development of solar projects during the course of next several years. At present, the company has about 25 MW of solar systems installed or under construction in the U.S. These include rooftop installations on customers’ location and large-scale solar project with a capacity of 17. 1 MW, located in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This project will be one of the largest solar projects in the U.S.
Constellation Energy focuses its activities in states such as California, Maryland, Pennsylvania New Jersey, and Massachusetts, where solar incentives are beneficial to customers for solar installations. It has developed installations for a wide range of customers including manufacturers, retailers, universities and government facilities throughout the nation.
