ONTILITY to Offer Solar Thermal Design and Installation Training in Texas

A Solar Thermal Design and Installation Training (S104) course will be offered by ONTILITY from March 15th to 19th, 2010 in Austin, Texas. The course adheres to the requirement of NABCEP to acquire its solar thermal installer certificate.

Many incentive and rebate programs for solar energy require that installers be certified. The new 40-hour S104 course from ONTILITY satisfies the NABCEP's Solar Thermal Certification educational requirements. To attend the NABCEP Solar Thermal Installer Certification Exam, an installer should have a minimum of four years of field experience and by completing this S104 course, the requirement is reduced to two years.

The S104 course from ONTILITY offers the students a complete knowledge of solar collectors and other components, estimation, system design, code requirements and plumbing methods and best practices. Solar thermal products and its applications, how sunlight is converted into heat, and how to use solar conversion equipment are also covered in the course.

The 40-hour course comprises discussions, lectures, independent study and labs for system installations led by Tim Coats, an experienced solar thermal installer, instructor and system designer.
