The acquisition of International Green N-ergy Corporation (IGNC) based in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been completed by Refill Energy. IGNC’s innovative Downdraft Gasification Module, which was fabricated by Ogden-based Petersen Inc., was also acquired by the company.
Mit Ebeling, President of Refill Energy Inc., said the company was looking forward to the acquisition for many years and with the gasification module, the company will move forward from construction to operation.
The Downdraft Gasification technology developed and patented by Refill Energy is capable of generating clean, renewable energy by converting solid or liquid carbon-based feedstock such as coal, municipal solid waste, sludge, sewage, carcasses, and agricultural waste to a combination of electricity, ethanol, steam, fuels, hydrogen, and chemicals. The technology is capable of generating more than 1 MWH of electricity or approximately 100 gallons of fuels from one ton of feedstock. Compared to the currently available technologies, the patented method from Refill Energy generates energy with less waste and with greater efficiency.
A clean synthesis gas that is mainly made up of carbon monoxide and hydrogen is generated from the revolutionary Refill Energy’s gasifier. The synthesis gas can be utilized for various applications such as to generate electricity by using an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle or be converted into liquid fuels using a University of Utah licensed Catalytic Slurry Cyclone Reactor. The liquid fuels that can be produced include jet fuel, diesel fuel, ethanol, gasoline or dimethyl ether. This technology enables the production of environmentally safe clean power.
