The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced the next step in its contract with Canada’s green power provider Bullfrog Power as part of its environmental initiative called Bet On Green. Bullfrog has enabled 100% green energy in five more OLG gaming sites, making a total of seven OLG facilities fully green powered.
OLG’s Senior Vice President Rob Moore said that OLG will soon become an industry leader in green business practices and it is fulfilling its green objectives in a number of ways such as cutting down on paper use for lottery products and greening the casinos. He also added that its interest in green electricity reinforces its dedication to making the environment greener and to improve its footprint through its partnership with Bullfrog.
The most recent OLG facilities going green include Casino Sault Ste. Marie and Clinton Raceway, while in January 2009 the Casino Brantford and the IT Data Systems centre became the users of 100% emissions-free electricity.
OLG is at present one of the largest supporters of Bullfrog’s green energy in Canada. The seven fully green OLG facilities will annually give back over 26,000 MWh to the grid, which is enough energy to light up more than 2,300 homes. By 2014, it is committed to drawing 90% of its power from renewable energy sources.
The President of Bullfrog Power, Tom Heintzman, said that OLG’s ongoing commitment to green electricity with Bullfrog helps to educate Ontario homes and businesses about the various choices they have to enhance the use of clean and green renewable electricity.
