Amonix is a manufacturer of High Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) power generation systems suitable for utility scale and commercial applications. The southern Nevada desert gets less than 5 inches of rainfall annually and has dry climate with sunshine for 345 days in a year. For NV Energy, Amonix installed utility-scale solar power generators in the Nevada desert.
The three High Concentration Photovoltaic systems were installed in NV Energy’s Clark Generation Station. The three installed photovoltaic systems spread across an acre in the desert. Each of the three HCPV systems is raised from the desert floor and tilted to follow the daily course of the sun. After the installation at Clark Generation Station, the three HCPV systems had generated over 300,000kWh power.
The solar power generators from Amonix utilize propriety technology to capture more solar energy and perform efficiently than the conventional photovoltaic panels that are mounted on residential rooftops. Currently the utility-scale solar power generators produce more electricity than the conventional solar panels. With the NV Energy installation, 129 tons of CO2 emissions are prevented and 110,000 gallons of water are saved every year. The three HCPV systems installed at the Nevada desert with the collaboration of Amonix and NV Energy are operating efficiently.
