Germany Trade + Invest to Present Opportunities Available in German Solar Market at PV Expo in Japan

Germany Trade & Invest will be taking part in the PV Expo being held in Tokyo, Japan from 3rd March to 5th March 2010. Latest and vast opportunities that are available in the German solar market, which is the biggest solar market in the world, will be presented by it at the expo. According to the industry estimates, about half of the solar modules in the world are installed in Germany.

In 2009, due to heavy demand for high-quality rooftop solar modules, the installations were greater than the expectations. Germany accounted for approximately 50% of photovoltaic market in the world with new capacity additions of over 3.0 GW in 2009. Small rooftop systems accounted for a majority of the new photovoltaic installations. Up to November 2009, solar PV systems with less than 30 kWp capacity accounted for nine out ten new installations in the country.

A majority of private as well as commercial customers preferred either medium or premium-class solar modules indicating a strong demand for high-quality solar modules. Market acceptance and industry support are the two key main drivers for the country to be highly successful in photovoltaics. The world’s largest companies in the solar industry from supplies to producers including research and development institutes are established in Germany. German government has provided support for the domestic solar market through various measures such as Environmental Protection Loan Program and Renewable Energies Act (EEG).
