ProLogis to Construct Largest Rooftop Solar Project in Pacific Northwest

ProLogis, a leading distributed power generation facility provider in the world, said a second solar project totaling 2.4 MW will be developed by company in Portland. In the Pacific Northwest, this will be largest rooftop solar project.

Vice president of renewable energy for ProLogis, Drew Torbin, said the company’s rooftop solar program has grown substantially across the world. Since the company’s rooftop products are perfectly suited for solar installations and available immediately for that purpose, the demand for the solar rooftop products will continue to increase. To meet the increasing needs for renewable energy, the real solution lies in distributed energy generation, which is being demonstrated through the increasing interest from investors and utilities, Torbin said.

An agreement has been signed by ProLogis with Portland General Electric for over 900,000 sq. ft. of roof space covering seven buildings. This is ProLogis’s second solar rooftop project with Portland General Electric making a total of 3.5 MW for both the projects, which is enough to provide electricity to 388 homes per annum.
