Geothermal Electric Power Plants from Enel Latin America

Enel Latin America is a subsidiary of Enel, Italy, which operates a range of thermoelectric, geothermal, nuclear, wind power, photovoltaic and biomass power stations. Enel Latin America has renewable energy generation companies in Latin America. The company owns and operates power plants and has developed regional projects in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Brazil and Chile. Enel Latin America has installed power plants that can generate 667 MW of power, which are managed in partnership or directly.

Enel Latin America along with its partner LaGeo has got the permission from the government of Nicaragua to proceed with the exploration activity in the two geothermal areas in Managua-Chiltepe and El Hoyo Montegalan.  LaGeo works with Enel Latin America by a joint venture called GeoNica.  Enel Latin America owns 60% stake in the venture and the remaining stake is owned by LaGeo.  

Enel has signed an agreement with the National Petroleum Corporation in Chile, Empresa Nacional de Petroleo (ENAP), for exploration, resource development and utilization to install a geothermal power plant at Chile.  Enel and ENAP works together with ENG S.A. and GDN S.A. Enel owns 51% equity and ENAP has 49% equity in this project.

Enel Latin America has installed power plants with a capacity of 15,951MW, and with a production of 64/2 TWh/year.
