Solartech Renewables to Open Manufacturing Facility at TechCity

Solartech Renewables, LLC, a solar module manufacturer, will be opening new production facility at TechCity. This was announced by Congressman Maurice Hinchey, Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, Vincent Cozzolino, Solar Energy Consortium’s CEO, and NYSERDA President Francis Murray. The manufacturing plant will employ 100 people immediately and is expected to employ 300 people during the next five years.

The location of the manufacturing facility at TechCity was made possible due to the efforts of TSEC and Assemblyman Cahill who worked with NYSERDA, Empire State Development Corporation and the office of the Governor to secure state incentives worth over $5 million. Assemblyman Cahill commented that TechCity is rapidly becoming a prominent place for clean energy companies to be located.

TechCity Properties’ President, Dan Wieneke, commented that TechCity is delighted to receive support from Congressman Hinchey, Ulster County, the Empire State Development Corporation, NYSERDA, TSEC and Assemblyman Cahill. Dan Wieneke while welcoming Solartech Renewables said the company’s presence adds strength to its cluster concept of locating sustainable companies in a single site.

NYSERDA and the Empire State Development Corporation will provide more than $5 million to Solartech Renewables, out of which $2 million will come from a fund provided by the state budget, which was secured by Assemblyman Cahill for the purpose of getting solar companies to the Hudson Valley. An additional $600,000 will be provided by TSEC from the federal government.

The facility with an area of 15,000 square feet will be utilized by the company to produce about 55,000 silicon solar panels per year. The facility will employ 100 people to start with and commence its initial production activities.
