United States Export-Import Bank Names Suniva as “Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year”

Export-Import Bank of the United States has named Suniva as the “Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year.” Suniva is a producer of monocrystalline silicon solar cells and solar modules in the United States. CEO of Suniva, John Baumstark, received the award at the EX-IM Bank Annual Conference.

In 2009, Suniva exported over 90% of its products to Europe and Asia. The company has provided employment to more than 150 people and plans to employ 500 more people at a new production facility in Michigan. About 25% of the employees of the company are military veterans and many workers were hired from closed automotive plants.

Chairman and chief executive officer of Suniva, John Baumstark, said the company being the only producer of monocrystalline solar cells is delighted to contribute to make President Obama’s dream of doubling exports during the next five years a reality. The company is committed to protect the environment and provide employment to America’s next generation.

In addition to this achievement, Suniva was also ranked by Wall Street Journal as 2nd most promising Venture-Backed Clean Technology Company and achieved 15th ranking for overall Venture-Backed Company for all industries. Suniva was also included in Greentech Media’s list of the Top 50 VC-Funded Greentech Startups.
