Canon U.S.A., Inc., a digital imaging technology leader, has been named as a 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The company was honored with this award for its significant contribution to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The accomplishments of the company will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington D.C. This is Canon’s 11th ENERGY STAR Award.
Since 1993, Canon has been a partner of ENERGY STAR and will be recognized for its leading role in manufacturing products that earn the symbol of energy efficiency, the ENERGY STAR certification. The company has launched over 248 products that comprise energy-efficiency technologies, since the inception of the program.
In 2020 alone, people in America were able to save a significant amount on their energy bill to an extent of $17 billion assisted by the ENERGY STAR program. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions was equivalent to eliminating 30 million vehicles from the roadways in U.S.
EPA assistant administrator for Air and Radiation, Gina McCarthy, said that Canon is being recognized for its leadership role in addressing the challenges of climate change and its dedication to energy efficiency. The company is promoting and delivering products that have achieved ENERGY STAR certifications, demonstrating to clients that together, the country’s energy efficiency can be increased and cut down the greenhouse gas emissions, McCarthy added.
