Woodland Biofuels Receives Funding for Producing Cellulosic Ethanol

The province of Ontario, by means of the Innovation Demonstration Fund (IDF), is funding $4 million to assist Woodland Biofuels Inc. and its associates construct a demonstration facility that will utilize renewable wastes to produce cellulosic ethanol. Zeton Inc., a construction and demonstration plant engineering company, is one of the associates of Woodland Biofuels.

Sophia Aggelonitis, a Minister of Ontario, made the announcement for the funding on a construction facility of Zeton located in Burlington, Ontario.

The facility is likely to be constructed at the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre located in Sarnia-Lambton Research Park of the University of Western Ontario.

A patented technology of Woodland Biofuels will be used in the facility to generate sustainable fuels from almost any biomass type, such as agricultural waste and wood waste. The technology does not give rise to any toxic emissions and takes away the necessity to utilize food crops including corn to generate ethanol.

The CEO and President of Woodland Biofuels Greg Nuttall stated that the company expects to efficiently generate ethanol using renewable waste and deliver considerable environmental and economic benefits to the province of Ontario.
