Orange and Rockland Awards Energy Efficiency Contract to Willdan

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc., a Consolidated Edison, Inc. subsidiary, has awarded an energy efficiency contract valued at $7.9 million to Willdan Energy Solutions, a Willdan Group, Inc. subsidiary, for implementing a novel energy efficiency program meant for small business customers. A significant portion of the contract work is likely to be completed by late 2011. In 2009, a similar contract was awarded by another Consolidated Edison subsidiary Consolidated Edison Company of NY valued at $67 million to Willdan Energy Solutions.

The O&R Small Business Direct Installation Program by Orange and Rockland Utilities is designed specifically to help customers in the New York State attain their energy reduction targets. The program provides the small business customers of New York with free energy efficiency surveys, covers 70% of the cost incurred for energy-saving approaches and completely covers equipment costs including high-pressure rinse valves, water faucet aerators and compact fluorescent lamps.

As per the contract, the responsibilities of Willdan Energy Solutions will include community outreach, marketing and collaborating with local business organizations and the community, in addition to energy-saving facility retrofit projects and on-site energy efficiency surveys in numerous businesses all across the Sullivan, Orange and Rockland counties in the New York State.
