Minnesota Public Utilities Commission Approves Goodhue Wind Project

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) has approved the Goodhue Wind Project and has given the status of a Community-Based Energy Development (C-BED) project on the 15th of April 2010. The MPUC accepted the request of Xcel Energy for approving the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of the project and has provided a draft site permit.

The regulatory administration director of Xcel Energy Jim Alders commented that the Goodhue Wind Project helps provide customers with clean, cost-effective, renewable energy.

Thirty representatives and supporters of the Goodhue Wind Project expressed their support and commitment to Goodhue Wind. Located in Goodhue County, Minnesota spanning an area of 12,000 acres, the Goodhue Wind Project uses 52 turbines. General Electric turbines will be supplied by the American Wind Alliance (AWA) for this project. More than 215 community members and landowners are taking part in this project.
