Community Power Corporation has developed automatic, modular, biopower systems. BioMax, ThermalMax, and LiquiMax are the bioenergy modular products designed and developed by Community Power Corporation. BioMax converts biomass into a renewable fuel gas that can be converted into liquid fuels, chemical fuels, and electrical, thermal or mechanical fuel.
BioMax is designed to use waste products from forest and agricultural industries. Pellets made from peanut shells, coconut shells, sawdust, soy beans, coffee husks, chicken litter, nutmeg shells, walnut shells and wood chips are used in the BioMax.
BioMax is an automated small modular biopower system. The system does not use fossil fuels, and so reduce greenhouse gas emission. The start-up, operation and shutdown are completely automated. The system produces low level of particulates and also low level of carbon monoxide and nitrous oxides. BioMax is termed as a modular system as it can be used in parallel with other power systems. Normal maintenance is required for the engines and filters in the system. The ash is removed from the system to the drums. The gasifier is checked during shutdown and the components are cleaned at that time.
The gasifier in the BioMax coverts biomass into producer gas, with a low BTU, 120 to 160 BTU/cubic foot, along with a mixture of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane. The producer gas is ignited in the internal combustion engine and the crankshaft spins the electrical generator.
