SunEdison to Construct Solar Systems for The Remington Group

One of the divisions of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. SunEdison has entered into an agreement with real estate developer The Remington Group to develop and construct around 14 rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects having total capacity of 3 MW.

As per the agreement, the photovoltaic solar energy systems that are hosted at The Remington Group’s facilities will be financed, built, owned, operated, monitored and maintained by SunEdison. The produced energy will be purchased by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) as per the terms of the Feed-in Tariff Program (FIT) of Ontario.

All of the 14 solar systems will be installed in the Greater Toronto Area. The solar systems will commence operation by the summer of the year 2010. The solar systems will produce enough energy to offset around 42,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which equals removing more than 9,000 vehicles from roads each year.

The Remington Group’s President Christopher Bratty stated that the company, with the focus on green energy, is committed to sustainable, environment-friendly practices in Ontario.
