DMT 8300S Permanent Magnet Generators for Wind Power Applications from Danotek

The DMT 8300S permanent magnet generator is capable of generating a maximum power of over 2 megawatts at a maximum speed of 2,000 rotations per minute. It has a peak efficiency of 98 per cent and operates in ambient temperature conditions ranging from -40 degrees centigrade to +55 degrees centigrade.

Solar Electric System Installed by Standard Solar at the Loudoun County Homeless Services Center

Electricity is now being generated at the recently constructed Loudoun County Homeless Services Center with the help of a 9.5-kilowatt array of solar panels. These solar panels were installed by Standard Solar. This structure with its air-handling systems, passive lighting features and energy efficient appliances, is expected to receive a “Silver” certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System, which is nationally recognized.

The World’s First MicroCSP Solar Thermal Plant Inaugurated by Sopogy

The world’s first MicroCSP Solar Thermal Plant was inaugurated on 10 December, 2009 by Sopogy. The inauguration took place at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii. This thermal energy project that spreads across 3.8 acres in the Kona desert is titled: “Holaniku at Keahole Point”. This title is derived from a Hawaiian term that refers to a location that is self-sufficient in all aspects.

First Light Solar Project Recognized as “Solar PV Project of the Year” by Canadian Solar Industries Association

First Light solar energy park, a joint venture of SkyPower and SunEdison, was named as "Solar PV (photovoltaic) Project of the Year" by the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA). This was announced in Toronto during its annual Solar Conference. First Light solar energy park generates more than 11 million kW of power per annum.

Final Results of Catch the Wind's Vindicator Laser Wind Sensor Trial Program with Nebraska Public Power District Released

Catch the Wind Ltd. had undertaken a field trial program for its Vindicator(R) Laser Wind Sensor (LWS) with Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). The final results of the trial have been released by Catch the Wind. The results clearly established the efficiency of the Vindicator LWS system. This system detects strong currents of wind and aligns the wind energy system to achieve maximum utilization in such a scenario. The energy output of a turbine fitted with Vindicator was seen to increase by an average of 12.3% due to the alignment.

Caithness Energy Awards $1.4 Billion Wind Turbines Supply Contract to GE

GE has received a $1.4 billion contract to supply wind turbines from an independent power producer, Caithness Energy, for a new 845 MW wind farm project that is to be constructed at Oregon. GE also has to provide services for the wind power project as per the contract terms.
