The renewable energy division of the Libra Group, Greenwood Energy has signed a $50 million commitment with the U.S. Department of Energy to be a part of their ‘Better Buildings Challenge’, which integrates retailers, large-scale property owners, and universities with financial partners to start energy efficiency projects.

Waste Management has reported the completion of a new gas-to-energy plant construction at the Pine Tree Acres Renewable Energy Facility located in Lenox. The new plant is designed to produce 12.8 MW of electricity from waste to fulfill the power requirement of roughly 12,000 Michigan homes.

A new university-led study with NASA participation finds ancient Antarctica was much warmer and wetter than previously suspected. The climate was suitable to support substantial vegetation -- including stunted trees -- along the edges of the frozen continent.
