Sunetric Announces Deployment of Solar-to-Grid Curtailment Solution in Hawaii

Sunetric, a wholly-owned subsidiary of RGS Energy, has deployed a 198.8 kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic (PV) system with automated curtailment and smart-grid controls at a popular beachfront resort on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The system is funded and owned by Kairos Energy Capital, a Hawaii-based merchant bank which finances and invests in solar.

Lepomis Solar Project in Massachusetts Achieves Commercial Operation

EDF Renewable Energy today announced that the 5.99 MWp Lepomis Solar Project, located in Plymouth, Massachusetts, has reached commercial operation. EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) and Sage Stone LLC, an international development and investment advisory company (www.sagestonellc.com), signed the Membership Interest Purchase and Sale Agreement (MIPSA) in July 2013 and subsequently started the construction phase in October 2013.

US Researchers Perform Environmental Lifecycle Assessment of 2MW Wind Turbines for Large Wind Farm in the US Pacific

US researchers have carried out an environmental lifecycle assessment of 2-megawatt wind turbines mooted for a large wind farm in the US Pacific Northwest. Writing in the International Journal of Sustainable Manufacturing, they conclude that in terms of cumulative energy payback, or the time to produce the amount of energy required of production and installation, a wind turbine with a working life of 20 years will offer a net benefit within five to eight months of being brought online.
