New Tool May Lead to Commercially Viable Fuel Cells

Fuel cells have long been heralded as the energy technology of the future. Invented in 1838, the cells promise an almost limitless supply of clean energy for everything from cars to electrical grids, but have always proven too expensive to manufacture, fuel and maintain to enter mainstream use. Hoping to bring down those costs, a team of Bucknell faculty and student researchers has developed a new tool that could greatly accelerate fuel cell experimentation, and one day lead to the first commercially viable fuel cells.

GE Exceeds $10 Billion in Renewable Energy Investment

GE Energy Financial Services announced today it has exceeded $10 billion in renewable energy investment commitments worldwide to become one of the industry’s leading investors. The projects generate twice the electricity consumed in Los Angeles annually, avoid greenhouse gases equivalent to the annual car emissions in Massachusetts, and create an estimated 10,000 US jobs.

Cornerstone Collaborates with City of Glasgow on Green Energy Project to Convert Landfill Methane Gas

Cornerstone Environmental Group, LLC announces that it is providing landfill gas engineering and air permitting services to the City of Glasgow, Kentucky for a project that will convert methane gas produced by the City's landfill into electrical power. At peak production, the project will supply the electrical power needs of about 450 residences as well as serve as a back-up power source for the city's wastewater treatment plant.

Gamesa Wind Honored with Ex-Im Bank ‘Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year’ Award

Today the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) awarded its Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year distinction to a major supplier in the wind power market, Gamesa Wind US, LLC. Gamesa's wind turbines generate electricity in 42 countries, and its sales of American-made machinery support hundreds of U.S. jobs, according to the Departments of Commerce and Labor. The award was presented at the Bank's Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

GE Partners with Welspun Renewables to Expand Solar Energy Generation in India

GE unit GE Energy Financial Services and Welspun Renewables Energy Pvt. Ltd. (WREPL) announced today a partnership to expand solar energy generation in India. GE Energy Financial Services is making its first investment in a solar power project in India, funding US $24 million for a 151 (DC)-megawatt solar photovoltaic power project that WREPL, one of India’s leading clean energy generating companies, put into operation in August 2013, almost eight months ahead of schedule.
