Earth's Temperature Rise Will Cause Methane Emissions to Outpace That of Carbon Dioxide

While carbon dioxide is typically painted as the bad boy of greenhouse gases, methane is roughly 30 times more potent as a heat-trapping gas. New research in the journal Nature indicates that for each degree that the Earth's temperature rises, the amount of methane entering the atmosphere from microorganisms dwelling in lake sediment and freshwater wetlands — the primary sources of the gas — will increase several times.

Light + Building 2014: Leti to Highlight New Wireless High Data Rate Li-Fi Transmission Prototype

CEA-Leti will demonstrate its new prototype for wireless high data rate Li-Fi (light fidelity) transmission at Light + Building 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany, March 30-April 4. The technology employs the high-frequency modulation capabilities of light-emitting diode (LED) engines used in commercial lighting. It achieves throughputs of up to 10Mb/s at a range of three meters, suitable for HD video streaming or Internet browsing, using light power of less than 1,000 lumens and with direct or even indirect lighting.

Canadian Solar Announces Sale Completion of Little Creek Solar Power Plant

Canadian Solar Inc. (the "Company", or "Canadian Solar"), one of the world's largest solar power companies, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has completed the sale of Little Creek, a 8.5 megawatt ("MW") AC solar power plant valued at over C$53.0 million to a BluEarth Renewables Inc. subsidiary ("BluEarth"). This is the first of four planned solar projects being acquired by BluEarth from Canadian Solar, totalling 38.5 MW AC.
