New Nano-Based Technology Could Reduce Solar Costs

Evolution Solar has applauded the efforts taken by the scientists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to coat paper using a solar cell. The paper solar cell is one among the other works focusing on nano-sized materials in the Eni-MIT Solar Frontiers Center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This technological breakthrough can facilitate the spraying of layers of such materials utilizing various production techniques to create a thin solar cell onto a paper, plastic or metal foil. The technology can result in the reduction of solar costs. This technology will also help reduce the solar panels’ weight.

The research on this technology was conducted by Karen Gleason, an MIT professor. Moreover, a paper has been submitted for scientific review.

In collaboration with Texas Southern University, Evolution Solar is constructing a solar demonstration facility which is likely to be situated at the Houston Campus of the University. The project is likely to assist Evolution Solar garner new projects in the energy industry.
