IXYS Corporation Launches Power MOSFETs

IXYS Corporation and its fully owned subsidiary Clare, Inc. have introduced a novel low-voltage Power MOSFETs in small-sized SOIC packages with a 1 V gate threshold voltage and 30 V breakdown voltage rating.

The MOSFETs are ideal for use in high frequency switching, power control meant for battery-powered portable equipment and synchronous rectification. The CPC3851N dual MOSFET and CPC3801N single MOSFET have 80 mOhms and 1 A current rating of on-resistance.

Other applications include low-voltage DC to DC converters, where MOSFETs can ideally help reduce conduction losses. MOSFETs can be switched even at high frequencies such as 250 kHz which facilitates the use of small-sized transformers, capacitors, inductors in DC/DC converters, solar chargers circuits and battery chargers.

The CPC3851N and CPC3801N can be used as the isolation rectifier between the battery and solar cells in solar chargers. These MOSFETs can be customized to be run by Clare’s CPC1822/24 photovoltaic solar cells.

IXYS Corporation’s CEO Nathan Zommer commented that the resulting technology by combining the company’s CPC1822/24 with the CPC MOSFETs can be termed as SolarBits solar cells, ‘solar panel chip’ and ‘solar bulbs’.
