Distribution facilities provider ProLogis Renewable Energy has announced an 11.1 MW rooftop solar project in the region of Southern California.
ProLogis Renewable Energy has inked a master contract with electric utility Southern California Edison (SCE) to offer around 100 MW of power to SCE by means of its rooftop solar project. The contract covers roof space of 2.5 million sq. ft. across five buildings. The system will be owned and operated by SCE. All of the power generated will be fed into the electrical system of SCE for serving its customers. As the project site host, ProLogis Renewable Energy will obtain construction management fees and roof rental income. Construction on the project is likely to start this summer.
This rooftop solar project being the second of such projects between the two firms brings the total partnership of SCE with ProLogis Renewable Energy to solar energy of 13.5 MW capacity. The first project was on a building of ProLogis Renewable Energy in Fontana, California that currently offers 2 million W of clean power to the grid of SCE.
Currently, ProLogis Renewable Energy has solar projects under construction or installed on 32 buildings across the U.S., Spain, Japan, Germany and France. The installations cover over 10.6 million sq. ft. of roof space totaling 24.6 MW capacity. Formed in 2009, the ProLogis Renewable Energy firm aims to provide development services, manage installations and procure new business for renewable energy projects worldwide.
