Whisper 500 Wind Turbine from Southwest Windpower

Southwest Windpower offers the Whisper 500 wind turbine. This wind turbine is designed to produce 500 kWh per month to meet the energy requirements of a small home.

The rotor diameter of this wind turbine is 4.5 m and weighs 70 kg. The Whisper 500 wind turbine deploys two durable composite blades made of carbon reinforced fiberglass. The body of this wind turbine is made of welded steel and powder coated for protection. This wind turbine is mounted on a 5 in schedule 40 (12.7 cm) pipe.

The Whisper 500 wind turbine provided by Southwest Windpower is offered in 24, 36, and 48 VDC ranges and higher voltages are also available. The start-up speed of this wind turbine is 3.4 m/s, its rated power is 3000 W at 10.5 m/s and its peak power is 3200 W at 12 m/s. The Whisper 500 incorporates a controller and diversion load for safe functioning of the wind turbine while charging the batteries. The optional LCD display for the controller provides instant real time data for constant monitoring. This optional remotely controlled display can be either mounted on the controller or can be kept up to a distance of 300 m.

The Whisper 500 wind turbine produces 538 kWh per month at 5.4 m/s. This wind turbine is designed to withstand a maximum speed of 55 m/s. For protection against over speed this wind turbine utilizes side-furling option. The angle-governor incorporated in the model protects the blades and provides maximum out put in all types of wind conditions.
