On May 21, 2010, The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center located in Washington, D.C. will witness the gathering of both national and international policy makers, researchers and developers for the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) Global Geothermal Showcase and Forum. The Geothermal Energy: International Market Update 2010 of GEA is likely to be released in this event. This study details the condition of the geothermal sector around the world.
The Geothermal Energy: International Market Update 2010 will provide information on industry growth, key policies and players in the international scene. Information released during the World Geothermal Congress in Indonesia indicated that the U.S. is the leading producer of geothermal energy in the world with more than 3,000 MW generated, which is sufficient to power 750,000 average-sized homes. The GEA report indicated 26% growth in the development of U.S. geothermal energy over 2009. Traditional states including California and Nevada are known for its strong geothermal energy; however, regions such as the Gulf Coast and Texas are also beginning to show growth in geothermal energy.
The agenda of the forum features discussions on topics including the worldwide potential for geothermal power, technology developments, trends in the worldwide and U.S. geothermal industry and international and national policies to support the development of geothermal energy.
