An Edison International firm Southern California Edison has inked a master supply contract with SunLink Corporation for using the rooftop solar mounting solution of SunLink Corporation for its solar generation program.
The mounting solution of SunLink Corporation will be utilized for installing photovoltaic (PV) panels of 50 MW on various commercial rooftops in eastern Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties by the middle of 2011. This agreement represents 20% of the plan of Southern California Edison to construct 250 MW of owner-operated and –installed PV systems during the course of the next half a decade.
SunLink Corporation provides numerous non-penetrating and tilt angles mounting alternatives for various solar panels. The offsite pre-panelization service of SunLink Corporation maximizes labor efficiency and decreases installation costs on the roof.
The solar project of Southern California Edison involves conducting various activities. Firstly, after studying customer demand, novel production sources are likely to be installed. These installations will accelerate the solar generation deployment of California while novel renewable power transmission lines are currently being constructed including the 4,500-MW Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project of Southern California Edison. The grid engineers of Southern California Edison are likely to study the electrical repercussions of photovoltaics high penetration on distribution circuits and accordingly adapt circuits for accommodating large installations. The solar power project of Southern California Edison is likely to generate around 800 green jobs for Southern California’s solar industry. This project is supported by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a Southern California Edison project partner.
