Resurrection School Installs Solar Energy System

Resurrection School, a non-residential institution, has installed a solar energy system having 24.6 kW capacity in Rye City. Mercury Solar Systems conducted the design and installation of the solar energy system.

The majority of the financial contributions for the project were provided by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA). On May 11, 2010, an opening ceremony was conducted with city, school and energy officials.

This solar energy system features three inverters and 123 panels. This system is expected to provide 30% of the school building’ electricity needs each year including the computer lab and the lights.

The system will generate 27,000 kWh annually and reduce 49,390 lbs of CO2, which equals planting on 2.5 acres of land, removing 3 cars from the road each year and recycling 480,000 soda cans.
