Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy forecasts the wind energy market of the Middle East to remain small-sized, since governments have not done enough to advance the industry.
Tulsi Tanti, the Chairman of Suzlon Energy, predicts that over the next twenty years, the newly installed wind power capacity market of the Middle East is likely to hit 10-15 GW, whereas over the next ten years, the wind power capacity market of Europe is likely to reach 100-150 GW.
Both India and Europe have set the goal of producing 20% of their power generation with renewable resources by 2020.
In order to meet the increasing energy usage of its mushrooming economies, the Gulf Arab area is contemplating investments in alternative fuels. For instance, Egypt intends to produce around 20% of its power from renewable resources by the year 2020, by means of constructing wind farms among others.
